After playing The Weeping Witch, The Hex Room, and The Fun House at Cross Roads Escape Games, I came away with a clear favorite. The three felt very different in both design and appeal, so I would choose based on your group’s experience and appetite for horror.

The Weeping Witch: My First Choice
This was the standout for me: a compact room that combines mechanical puzzles, live performance, and carefully timed lighting and sound. Much of the experience takes place in one main space, yet the pacing keeps it from feeling static.
Puzzles and actor appearances alternate effectively. There is plenty to solve, and feedback arrives promptly enough to keep the game moving. The tension builds gradually toward a satisfying climax.
I personally found the horror relatively mild, though that is subjective. What impressed me most was the balance: enough interaction to make the experience memorable, with puzzle solving remaining central. If I could choose only one of these three, it would be this one.

The Hex Room: Bring a Team That Can Work Apart
Our six-person team was split across different rooms after a character-assignment questionnaire. Each space draws on a different horror-film archetype, with a detective acting as the central coordinator.
The format gives everyone a role, but it also means experienced players cannot always step in and solve a teammate’s puzzles for them. Communication matters, and I would recommend it more readily to a group with some escape room experience.
The puzzles were predominantly lock-based, and there were no live actors during our game. For a larger team that wants everyone involved, the structure is its main attraction.

The Fun House: A Gentler Choice
The Fun House mixes circus imagery with an Alice in Wonderland feel. The scenery is colorful and full of unusual objects, but I found the lock-based puzzles comparatively traditional and easy.
It would not be my priority on an enthusiast trip. I would be more likely to consider it for a family group or players who want to avoid horror.

My Recommendation
For puzzles, atmosphere, and performance: The Weeping Witch.
For a larger, experienced group that enjoys communication challenges: The Hex Room.
For a colorful, non-horror outing: The Fun House.
